I love corn on the cob, but absolutely HATE shucking it and trying to get alllllll the silks off. There is a better, quicker way!
I take an ear, cut off the bottom 2 or 3 kernels by slicing the bottom of the ear off. Then, twist all the silk off the top that you can. Put the ear(s) into the microwave oven (I use an 1100 watt one), cover them, then microwave on high for 3-4 minutes per ear. After the microwave is through, put on an oven glove or use a dish towel to take out an ear. Hold the ear firmly at the top where the silks are, then twist the bottom part until you can slide out the ear from the shucks and silks. You should end up with a pretty clean ear that only has a few silks. Strip off the silks, put under a dish towel to rest for a few minutes, cut in half or serve whole with butter, salt and pepper.
