Everyone these days seems to have a “secret” seasoning or a seasoning that’s soooooooooooo much better than any other seasoning on the market so that you gotta “pay to play” so to speak. Once again, this is right on track with this site’s theme, “Heresy”!
“You need to have this in your rub” or “You have to add all this to make it right” or “If your marinade doesn’t have _____ and ____ then it’s not a good marinade” (fill in the blanks!) and on and on and on.
Well, my next heresy is “Let the meat and cooking speak for itself!” A little fresh ground sea salt, some fresh ground pepper, a bit of garlic powder (NOT garlic salt! So you can control the salt in your meal) a modest splash of Lea and Perrins Worchestershire sauce rubbed in and a little bit of hardwood smoke will handle almost all of your basic seasoning needs. OK, if you want to get fancy, that’s ok, too, but please, let the flavor of whatever you’re cooking be the main theme of the flavor when you bite into it!
Yep, only 4 ingredients, but they are, IMHO, the Fab 4 (NOT to be confused with the Beatles music group, K?? LOL)!
Just doing a little thinkin’ out loud. 🙂
